Protech Supercharger 702 Manual
From what I've read on this forum, you need a peak charger for NiMH batteries. Since this one has a timer and is a trickle charger, I would say it's just for NiCAD batteries. Once again, from what I've read, it's easy to overcharge NiMH batteries with a timer. And you don't want to use a trickle charger because once they are charged to their peak level, you don't want to continue charging them. I think you need a peak charger that shuts itself off when the battery is fully charged. Use the search button, there are a lot of threads talking about chargers.
Low $ and high $. There, that's what I've learned about battery chargers. Dougget:EDIT: Oh yeah, one more thing. That charger has a discharge setting. NiCAD batteries should be fully discharged before recharging (They have memory issues).
NiMH batteries do not need to be discharged. Yup, looks like a NiCAD charger to me.
Explanation: A mobile phone is powered by a battery. A battery stores electric charge.
When wires connect the two terminals ['+' terminal and '-' terminal], then a current will flow through the wire from the '+' terminal to the '-' terminal. The electric circuits that operate the cell phone (and any other electronic device) require electric current to operate.

Anybody know if this charger would charge NIMH and NICAD batteries? Pro Tech Super charger 702. (it was my dad's) but I do not know anything about it such as what batteries it will charge, whether it turns off by itself once the battery is charged etc. Model Craft MFG Pro-Tech Super Charger AC/DC 702, RC Vintage Pro-Tech Charger, Plugged it in, measured the output voltage somewhere around 10 volts, didn't test the 12 Volt battery input but the AC.from 538401768.
In order to store electric charge in the battery you must apply DC current to the battery. AC means 'alternating current', which means that half the time the current flows in one direction along the wire that carries the AC, while the current flows in the opposite direction the other half of the time. One cycle of the AC is the total time for the current to flow in both directions. If you tried to charge a battery with AC, during each half of the cycle the current would undo the charging that the previous half-cycle had provided. There are devices that can convert AC into DC.
Contoh rpp dan silabus kelas 3 sd. (They are called converters, or rectifiers.) For a device like a cell phone you would plug the converter into the AC electric outlet, and the converter would produce DC coming out of a cable which you would plug into your cell phone to charge the battery. The converter is a relatively simple electronic circuit. If you want to know more about it, then ask. That totally depends on what kind of charging device you are using. NThe cheapest way to charge a nickel metal hydride battery is to charge at C/10 or below (10% of the rated capacity(C) per hour).
So a 100 mAH battery would be charged at 10 mA for 15 hours. This method does not require an end-of-charge sensor and ensures a full charge. Modern cells have an oxygen recycling catalyst which prevents damage to the battery on overcharge, but this recycling cannot keep up if the charge rate is over C/10. The minimum voltage you need to get a full charge varies with temperature--at least 1.41 volts per cell at 20 degrees C. Even though continued charging at C/10 does not cause venting, it does warm the battery slightly. To preserve battery life the best practice is to use a timer to prevent overcharging to continue past 13 to 15 hours.
